About seven hundred residents of the Old Buipe Electoral Area in the Central Gonja District have demonstrated against the government over the deplorable states of roads in the electoral area.
The protest was organised on Tuesday by youth and a petition presented to the District Chief Executive at Buipe.
The peaceful demonstration by the people of the Old Buipe Electoral Area was to bring to bare their grievances over the absolute neglect in terms of road, educational and health infrastructure.
The electoral area is an agrinarian area made of communities such as Old Buipe, Dagomba Line, Lalakura, Gbongbonto, Lito , Bochepe, Kulonso among others.
Presenting their petition to the District Chief Executive Hon Salia Kamara, the president of the youth group decries the difficulty in accessing market at the district capital whilst blaming the contractor awarded a bridge project of shoddy work.
Some of the demonstrators shared their experiences about the situation noting the collection of revenue from the electoral area and yet are left abandoned.
The district coordinator who received the petition on behalf of the DCE commended the petitioners for a peaceful demonstration and promised to look into it.
