Olam Food Ingredients(Ofi) has donated 200 bags of rice and 70 packs of Tin tomatoes to affected communities of the Gbiniyiri Conflict in the Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts of Savannah Region.
Beneficiary communities include; Sawla,Blema,Kalba, Chenchere Sogoyiri,komkorope and Bale. All in the Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts
Speaking to Bole based Nkilgi fm, the General manager of Olam Food Ingredients(Ofi GH) Mr. Raphael Yussif Amankwa said the company (OFI Ghana) formerly known as Olam Ghana have been in the Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts for the past 30 years and is the number one company in the area when it comes to the cashew buying and its supports to farmers and communities.
Mr. Raphael Yussif Amankwa added that it is sad and unfortunate for them to see the people going through that anxiety.
He added that they came to pay homage to the chiefs of the area and also contribute their widow's mite to support the chiefs.
Mr. Raphael Yussif Amankwa said that they are not focusing on the displaced people alone, but also the security agencies protecting the people.
He said when there is peace in the area, it will automatically make their business smooth but when there is conflict, everything becomes very slow.
He said Olam Food Ingredients (Ofi) will feel the impact of the conflict greatly and they pray peace fully return for normal business activities to continue
He also said the people of Savannah Region are their people and see the damage the conflict will cause, they know there may be food insecurity in the area because most of the people have run leaving their farms and animals.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary communities, Sawlawura Abdulai Nugbaso thank Olam Food Ingredients (Ofi) for the kind gesture.
He said they have lived in peace for a very long time and they never had issues with anybody.
Sawlawura Abdulai Nugbaso added that there will never be a fight if everybody doesn't go beyond limits.
He also urged the youth to be careful of what they put on social media. He said people are exaggerating and irritating others and so all should put a stop to that.
He added that as others are preaching peace, others too are causing trouble on social media and he urged all to desist from those comments
