Abease and Dormaa Paramount Chiefs Reaffirm Deep-Rooted Ancestral Ties

The Paramount Chief of the Abease Traditional Area and Vice President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty Obrempong Kru Takyi II, has led a high-powered delegation of chiefs and elders to pay a historic fraternal visit to the Dormaahene, His Royal Majesty Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, who also serves as President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.

The visit took place on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, at the Abanpredease Royal Palace in Dormaa. It was aimed at rekindling and strengthening the age-old family bond that exists between the two Paramountcies under the Bonokyempem Council.

Addressing the gathering, HRM Obrempong Kru Takyi II recounted his long-standing desire to undertake this significant visit since his ascension to the Abease Stool. He expressed profound gratitude to the Almighty and the revered ancestors for making the long-awaited journey possible at the appointed time.

He noted that the visit was not only symbolic but also a reaffirmation of the strong ancestral connection between Abease and Dormaa, adding that it marked a new chapter for mutual cooperation and development. The Abease Chief highlighted the historic role both Paramountcies play in the Bonokyempem Council and proposed the renovation of an ancient building in Abease used by early Bono chiefs for meetings, suggesting it be preserved as a heritage and tourism site.

Obrempong Kru Takyi II further congratulated the Dormaahene on his elevation to the Court of Appeal on 2nd October 2025, an appointment he described as a blessing to the entire Bono land.

In his response, HRM Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II expressed profound joy over the visit, describing it as both historic and spiritually uplifting. He emphasized the inseparable ancestral links between Abease and Dormaa and humorously remarked: “In the presence of a Pope, the authority of a Bishop is less; therefore, once Obrempong is in Dormaa, my power is no more until he leaves.”

The Dormaahene praised Abease for its critical contribution to the history of Dormaa and the broader Bonokyempem heritage, assuring Obrempong and his entourage of his unflinching commitment to safeguard and promote their shared lineage. He also pledged to reciprocate the gesture in due time.

He commended Obrempong Kru Takyi II for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation when they passed through Abease on 15th November 2025 en route to Prang for a festival.

Following the public engagements, the two Paramount Chiefs held a closed-door meeting, further deepening the renewed unity and cooperation between the two traditional jurisdictions.

The visit stands as a powerful reaffirmation of unity, common ancestry, and a shared commitment to progress between Abease and Dormaa—two great custodians of the Bonokyempem legacy.
