Damongo Youth Chief Declares Abu Jinapor as Mahama’s Potential Successor in Gonjaland

The Youth Chief of Damongo, Nyiribiwura Lukman Salifu Soldier, has sparked significant political debate across Gonjaland with a bold assertion that the Member of Parliament for Damongo,

Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, is poised to become the next major political figure from the area after former President John Dramani Mahama.

Addressing a gathering of Gonjalanders in Ashaiman, Accra, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Nyiribiwura Lukman urged residents of both the Savannah Region and the wider Gonjaland to unite behind the Damongo MP, whom he described as a leader appointed by divine will.

“If there is anyone who can best replace John Dramani Mahama in the interest of Gonjaland (Ngbanye), then that person is Hon. Lawyer Abu Jinapor,” he declared.

The endorsement has generated widespread discussion, especially given the youth chief’s previous criticisms of Jinapor and his active involvement in campaigns against him. His unexpected change of stance has surprised many political observers.

Nyiribiwura Lukman described Jinapor’s rise as a divine intervention meant to advance development and progress for the people of Gonjaland.

“If God wants to bless any community, He passes it through a servant. That servant is Abu Jinapor,” he asserted.

He commended the MP’s dedication to the people, stressing that Jinapor “will never turn his back on the Gonja people.” He further appealed to residents of the Savannah Region to “jealously protect” the MP, whom he called a beacon of hope for the future.

Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor continues to receive wide acclaim for his performance in his second term as MP, particularly for spearheading development across key sectors that have improved the lives of youth, women, farmers, and children.
