Pork And Dog Meat Excluded From Damongo Khebab Ban, According To Youth Chief

The youth chief of Damongo,Nyirbiwura Lukman Salifu Soja has dispelled rumors that the ban on Khebab Selling in Damongo by the paramount Chief of the Damongo traditional area Damongowura Boresah Kelly Seidu I include pork and dog meat selling by those that are into that business.

Nyirbiwura Lukman Salifu Soja in a media interview indicated that "those from the other side" with a large membership can go ahead to sell their pork and dog Chinchinga for sale since it is only livestock stealing that has become a nightmare in the Damongo Municipality.

He emphasized that when the stealing of dogs and pigs also starts, the palace will not hesitate to ban them also.

He warned however that they should also slaughter after veterinary certification to avoid the outbreak of diseases in the Municipality.

It will be recalled that the paramount Chief of the Damongo traditional area, Damongowura Boresah Kelly Seidu I last  week placed a ban on the sale of Khebab popularly known as Chinchinga in the Damongo Municipality until further notice and urged all meat sellers to slaughter their animals at the abattoir constructed by the west Gonja municipal Assembly since any animal that is slaughtered outside the abattoir would be declared as a stolen animal.

These follows growing concerns by residents in the Municipality involving an increase in cases of animal theft that has left many livestock owners frustrated and financially distressed.

Farmers and herdsmen, who rely heavily on livestock for their livelihoods, say the situation is worsening and requires urgent intervention from security agencies.

Community leaders have since called on the West Gonja Municipal Assembly and the Savannah Regional Police Command to intensify efforts in curbing the menace.

They  appealed for the reactivation of community watchdog committees to assist in monitoring and protecting livestock.

Meanwhile, popular known animal thieves have disappeared from town following an arrest made in the early hours of Thursday after some animals were killed at the Yagbon residential area.

Three persons have so far been arrested in Damongo for allegedly flouting a directive issued by the Paramount Chief of the Damongo Traditional Area, Damongowura Boresah Kelly Seidu I.
