Savannah Region: North Gonja NCCE Directorate organized Seminar for Youth in "Border Communities" at Daboya



As Part of National Commission for Civic Education efforts to Promote peacebuilding and conflict resolution skills in Northern Ghana and beyond.  

On Thursday 30th October, 2024 , the NCCE North Gonja Office engaged Youth in Border Communities within North Gonja District and trained them Strategies might use to Address radicalization and counter extremism in their Communities. 

The engagement held at Assembly Of God Church in Daboya sponsored by the European Union (EU) under the theme “Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism(PCVE) Action in the Northern Ghana . 

The Savannah Regional NCCE Director Speaking at the event Mr Issahaka Zitor Charged the Youth groups to work Collaboratively with NCCE to prevent extremism and promote inclusivity. 

As Ghana decide on December 7th Election, Mr Zitor also Urged the youth to vote based on a manifesto of political parties to ensure that the government stays focused on addressing the needs and concerns of the people.

"Your Thump is your power, so don't vote for money. Listen to manifesto of political parties and make a decision before going to vote" he noted.

Mr Matthew Duute, The National Commission for Civic Education North Gonja Director also Identified Community engagement as powerful tool  to prevent violence extremism.


"By engaging communities in prevention efforts, we can build stronger, more resilient societies and reduce the risk of violence and extremism.

As Part of our efforts to prevent violent extremism, we can develop 

 Community outreach programs, Youth engagement and mentorship, Interfaith dialogue initiatives,

Conflict resolution and mediation, Social media campaigns, Community-based social services" Mr Duute Narrated.

The National Commission for Civic Education North Gonja Office educating youth in border communities about radicalization was essential for preventing extremism, promoting social cohesion, and ensuring economic stability and security in the area.
