Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Damongo constituency and ranking member for Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs has underscored the importance of basic education as a constitutional right and encouraged all 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to approach the exams with confidence and integrity.

Addressing hundreds of enthusiastic BECE candidates on the final day of the exam at the two centers in Damongo Secondary School and Busunu respectfully on Tuesday, 17th June, 2025, Hon.Abu Jinapor commended them for their perseverance and resilience throughout the examination period which ends today.

"My dear friends, BECE candidates, I extend my gratitude to you for gathering here this morning and for the warm reception," he stated. "Let me also offer my warmest congratulations to you for successfully completing all your papers and for being poised to take your final paper today" he said.

The Damongo Constituency MP took the opportunity to counsel candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Damongo to maintain concentration, work assiduously, and engage in worthwhile pursuits after their exams.

He emphasized the need to express gratitude to God for good health and successful exam participation, noting that, disappointingly, some candidates in other locations had collapsed or failed to complete their papers.

The former Lands and Natural Resources Minister, reflecting on his educational background, disclosed that he took his BECE in 1998 at Damongo Secondary School, after attending St. Anne’s R/C JHS right here in Damongo.

“If you keep your mind to it, stay determined, work hard, and remain focused, you can achieve ten times more than I have done,” he told the students. “Finish hard, take your last paper seriously, and tackle it with all your strength.”

Hon. Jinapor, who has established a tradition of personally visiting and motivating BECE candidates over the past nine years, reaffirmed his commitment to the youth of Damongo.

"Your success is my success, and conversely, your failure would be my failure. That's why I must stand with you—regardless of your background, tribe, or religion. I'm your servant, and I'll be with you forever."

He encouraged the students, particularly the females to maintain focus and avoid distractions during the transitional period between completing their exams and enrolling in senior high school.

"When you finish your exams, don't idle about. Assist your parents at home or on the farms. Engage in productive ventures. And above all, be patient and stay focused. Your education is what will make or unmake you," he advised.

The 2025 BECE wraps up today in Ghana, with thousands of students taking a critical step toward their future academic and professional pursuits.
