Naada Jinapor Foundation Supports the Upkeep of Damongo's "Abandoned Baby"


 

The Naada Jinapor Foundation, an NGO founded by the wife of the Damongo Constituency's Member of Parliament, has provided a seed amount of Ghc5000 to support the care and feeding of the newborn baby discovered in a refuse dump at Hangaline, a suburb of Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region. 



The founder of the Naada Jinapor Foundation,Mrs Naada Jinapor stated that her NGO became aware of the unfortunate incident that occurred in her husband's constituency on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, following reports on various news portals in the region.


"We are donating a seed amount of Ghc 5000 to support the child’s recovery and feeding. 

While we are committed to doing our best, any form of support for the baby will be appreciated; clothes, cash, baby formula, diapers, etc", she said.

It will be recalled that a newborn baby boy was discovered after it was abandoned by its mother in a heap of refuse in at hangaline in Damongo in the early hours of Tuesday 16th September,2025.

The baby boy believed, to have been delivered the same day was found wrapped in a cloth and placed in a black polythene bag.

The day-old baby was found with a portion of its umbilical cord still attached to the navel and wrapped in a blood-stained white cloth.


According to an eyewitness who was first at the scene, the baby was found wrapped in a cloth and left helpless among household waste according to an eye witness.


The baby has since been rescued and rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital in Damongo. Sister Diana Bayor, a midwife at the facility, confirmed that the newborn was immediately processed and admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for observation and care.
