Abu Jinapor Supports Damongo SHS For The 2025 Renewable Energy Challenge Grand Finale

 



The member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, Samuel Abu Jinapor has on Monday 6th October,2025 supported participants of the Damongo Senior High School with an amount of Ghc5000 in their quest to win the 2026 grand finale of the National Renewable Energy Challenge schedule to take place in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday 7th October,2025.


The Ndewura Jakpa Bioplastic machine project, led by Mr. Michael Sirikyi, a physics tutor at Damongo Senior High School, aims to transform food waste into bioplastics. Three students, Amoro Memuna, Mahmoud Ibrahim, and Abdul-Rashid Ziinat, will represent the school in the competition presentation process.

On behalf of the member of Parliament, his aide made a donation and delivered a short speech, reminding the team of the member of Parliament's moral support and his enthusiasm for their prospective victory.

An assistant Headmaster of the Damongo SHS incharge of academic,Mr Abubakari Habib who received the cash amount on behalf of the Headmaster thanked the MP for his support and many others who have supported the school to win the competition since it's inception.

Damongo Senior High School is poised to face off against some of Ghana's top institutions, including Dabokpa Technical Institute, Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School, Ola Girls’ Senior High School, and Adidome Senior High School.


The school’s project, titled “Transforming Food Waste into Sustainable Biodegradable Solutions,” is a bold innovation designed to tackle environmental pollution while paving the way for a healthier and more sustainable future.


 The initiative reflects Damongo SHS’s growing reputation as a hub of creativity, resilience, and excellence in science and technology.

The Renewable Energy Challenge, organized by the Energy Commission, is aimed at encouraging creativity, innovation, and practical solutions among senior high school students in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Speaking ahead of the competition, team member Mahamud Ibrahim expressed the team’s determination, saying: “We are going for the ultimate. Our project is not only innovative but also a practical solution to environmental issues in Ghana and beyond.”
