Minister for lands and natural resources and member of parliament for the Damongo constituency Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor has officially commissioned the state-of-the-art Damongo Saturday market facilities in the Damongo Constituency of the Savannah Region.
The newly completed Damongo Saturday Market now features an array of facilities designed to serve both vendors and the broader community.
The new market boasts of key service structures, including an office complex,a dedicated meat shop as well as market stalls including lorry parks.
The market is also equipped with an enhanced sanitation through modern washrooms and an integrated drainage system with paved walkways and streetlights to ensure safety and accessibility throughout the market area.
Hon Abu Jinapor in a speech thanked the people of the Damongo constituency for the confidence reposed on him to serve as the member of parliament for the Damongo constituency and indicated that he was very grateful to God for seeing to the completion of the project.
He said the problems of the market is now a thing of the past as Damongo can now boast of the best market in the Savannah Region and appealed to the West Gonja Municipal Assembly to ensure the market is taken proper care of.
He indicated that market will generate much revenue to the assembly and also create employment avenues for the people of Damongo as traders across Ghana will start trouping into the market soon.
The Damongo Saturday market was established in 1977 by the late Yagbonwura Abudu Kurabaso according to his son Chief Alhaji Abudu Orlando who on behalf of the Kurabaso family praised the Damongo MP for his efforts to maintain the legacy of their father.
He said the market has never seen any facelift until the current Damongo MP saw the need for that.
Chief Orlando Kurabaso indicated that his father,the late Yagbonwura Abudu Kurabaso should be smiling by now in his grave following the reconstruction of the market.
Market women in the Damongo Municipality led by their leadership also poured praises on the Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor and urged everybody to rally their support for him since he has a lot in the pipeline for them.
