Buipewura Jinapor made the appeal on Tuesday 28th January,2025 at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi to thank the overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom Ya Na Abubakari Mahama II for his support prior to his election the and to seek his blessings as he occupies the position of the vice chairmanship.
Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II used the opportunity to appeal to the people of the Bawku traditional area to immediately smoke the peace pipe for development to take place since without peace, there can never be development.
"Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal” meaning, peace is not just an end goal, but a process that requires efforts, commitment and dedication for resolution. I therefore call on the feuding factions in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict to cease fire for a congenial environment to accelerate the peace process" he said.
Buipewura Jinapor also used the opportunity to thank and congratulate President John Dramani Mahama for his historic visit to Bawku and Nayiri all in the search for an amicable solution to the Bawku chieftaincy conflict immediately after assuming office as the President of Ghana.
On his election,he expressed his my profound gratitude to the chiefs and people of the Dagbon Kingdom for their impressive and invaluable support, prayers, commitment and encouragement during the keen contest.
Ya Naa Abubakari Mahama II on his part thanked the Buipewura for the visit and indicated that the Dagbon Kingdom is very grateful for the existing cordial relationship between the Gonja Kingdom and the Dagbon Kingdom.
He said it is good news to the people of Dagbon as Buipewura is the first vice president of the national house of chiefs to visit the Gbewa Palace and also used the opportunity to congratulate him for his election to the office of the vice president of the house of chiefs, adding that he is very confident that Buipewura will succeed in that office and that he is opened to working with him to succeed.
The Dagbon overlord further used the opportunity to appeal to the Buipewura to see to the approval of the Dagbon constitution which was submitted to the national house of chiefs in 2024 since the constitution has crucial roles to play in the traditional governance of the Dagbon Kingdom.
