Transformation of Savannah Region's Agriculture. (1)

Proposal step 1.

*Establishment of Mechanization and Technology Centres*

The Savannah Region of Ghana faces significant challenges in improving agricultural productivity. Climate change has resulted in unpredictable weather patterns, affecting crop yields and farmer livelihoods. Furthermore, the influx of Fulani herdsmen and their cattle has become a major menace to agriculture, causing harassment to native farmers and destruction of crops. Additionally, the lack of adequate mechanization and technology, as well as limited market access, exacerbate these challenges.

To address these challenges, the establishment of Mechanization and Technology Centres is crucial. These centres will provide farmers with access to modern machinery and technology, improving agricultural productivity and efficiency. The centres will also serve as hubs for training, demonstration, and testing of new technologies, enabling farmers to adapt to the impacts of climate change and improve their resilience.

Proposed Locations

To ensure equitable access to mechanization services, 12 Mechanization and Technology Centres will be established in the following locations:

1. Damongo, the regional capital

2. Bamboi

3. Bole

4. Sawla

5. Daboya

6. Yapei

7. Mpaha

8. Buipe
