Tamale-Kumasi Bus Veers Off Road at Yapei, 6 Dead, Several Injured




A Kumasi-bound commercial bus has crashed at Yapei in the Savannah Region, killing six passengers on the spot and leaving several others with severe injuries.  

The bus with registration number AP 2421-24, traveling from Tamale to Kumasi, reportedly veered off the road and crashed near Yapei on Tamale  Kumasi Highway in the early hours of Thursday.  

Eyewitnesses say the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road.

Six passengers died instantly, while the injured were rushed to the Yapei Polyclinic and Tamale Teaching  Hospital for emergency treatment.

Bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Central Gonja Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy and identification.

The Ghana Police Service has warned drivers to exercise caution, especially on long-distance journeys. 


In a related Development,  a Toyota Hilux vehicle with Registration GV-123-21 was also involved in an accident on the same stretch of Road without any fatalities.
